How levels work

You tell us where you think you fit, and the club confirms it after a couple of sessions. Levels exist so games are close, not to rank anybody. People move up and down over a season and that is the system working.

Beginner
TUE, WED, MON · PARKLAND ELEMENTARY / PINE RIDGE ELEMENTARY
As a developing beginner pickleball player, you have successfully grasped the core rules and can maintain fun, steady rallies by keeping the ball in play. You can execute foundational serves and returns, showing an increasing awareness of court boundaries and paddle control. While you are still refining your transition game, you have a solid understanding of the two-bounce rule and actively work on positioning yourself strategically at the kitchen line.
Intermediate
WED, THU, MON · PARKLAND ELEMENTARY / PINE RIDGE ELEMENTARY
As an intermediate pickleball player, you have moved past the basics and can consistently control your paddle to direct shots with intent, including executing reliable third-shot drops and deep serves. You actively implement strategy during rallies, comfortably transitioning from the baseline to the non-volley zone to engage in controlled dink battles. Your improved positioning allows you to anticipate your opponents' moves, minimize unforced errors, and effectively communicate with your partner to control the court.
Advanced
TUE, WED, THU · PARKLAND ELEMENTARY / PINE RIDGE ELEMENTARY / EMERADO CENTENNIAL
You play with good consistency, control, and court awareness, and can effectively use dinks, drops, drives, volleys, and basic resets. You understand positioning and strategy well, but may still have some inconsistency when under pressure or facing stronger opponents.
Premier
TUE, THU, MON · EMERADO CENTENNIAL / PARKLAND ELEMENTARY
You play with strong consistency, control, precision, and court awareness, and can confidently execute drops, drives, dinks, resets, volleys, and speed-ups. You use strategy and positioning effectively, handle pressure well, and can adapt your game to different opponents and styles of play.

Common questions

What do I bring?
Indoor shoes with non-marking soles, water, and a paddle if you own one. The club has loaners at every session and balls are provided.
What does it cost?
$150 CAD for the season, June 2026 to June 2027, paid once. That covers summer play at the Winkler Centennial Arena and winter play in the school gyms.
What if the gym closes?
The home page and schedule are updated first, then everyone registered gets an email. Check the site before you leave the house in winter.
Can I change level?
Ask any board member at a session, or email us. Nobody needs to justify it.
How do I pay?
By credit or debit card, through Stripe, at the end of registration. You get a receipt by email right away.
Can I change my details later?
Yes. Email info@winklerpickleball.ca any time after you register. Nothing you enter during registration is locked in.
What if I pick the wrong level?
There is no wrong pick. The level you choose during registration is only a starting point, and a real person confirms it after your first couple of sessions.
Do I need to sign a waiver?
Yes, once per season, the same as any sports club asks for. You sign it as part of registering.
